Abstract : 4-Aryl-5-benzoylamino-5-hydroxymethyl-1,3-diphenyl-2-pyrazolines I (R = CH2OH, Ar = Ph, 4-MeC6H4, 4-MeOC6H4, 4-ClC6H4) were prepd. by LiAlH4 redn. of either the spiropyrazolines II or the corresponding pyrazoline esters I (R = CO2Me); treatment of I (R = CH2OH) with hydrochloric acid in dioxane at room temp., gave 4-aryl-5-hydroxymethyl-1,3-diphenylpyrazoles III.
