Abstract : Metal oxide-loaded mesoporous catalysts were used on the reaction between methanol and CO2 to yield dimethylcarbonate. A three-dimensional mesoporus TUD-1 catalysts loaded with ceria, zirconia, and or a mixture of ceria and zirconia was used. Relatively high yields of DMC were obtained these catalysts. Catalytic testing showed a better performance of TUD-1 loaded with mixed ceria and zirconia. However, relatively high DMC yields were obtained via introduction of dehydrating agents in the reaction mixture in addition to the catalyst.
