Abstract
:
This study aims at identifying these obstacles that face the family and have an impact on her role in providing the integrated care for handicapped. It tries to investigate these correlations between these obstacles and some variables such as: the education level of parents, number of disabled children within the family and type of disability. This study has relied on the method of social sampling survey. It has been applied to a sample of (299) individuals of these families that have lodged their children in some of rehabilitation institutions for handicapped in Jeddah, they were chosen through the method of the regular random sample. It was also based on questionnaire and interview as two basic tools while observation was a supporting tool for these tools mentioned above. This study has reached a number of important results such as; the most important economic obstacles are represented in the insufficient monthly income of the family to satisfy the disabled needs and families' need for financial aids to pay care wages in private rehabilitation institutions whereas it has also shown that one of the most important obstacles for rehabilitation institutions is their need for these services related to providing artificial and reparative devices. Concerning the most important informative guiding obstacles, they are represented in the fact that most families don't enroll in informative training courses in the field of disability for their lack of knowledge about the scheduled time of conducting them. In addition, broadcasting and TV programs don't present these useful matters for the disabled people and their families in the informative guiding aspect. This study has shown a statistically-significant relationship between the sufficiency level of monthly income and the education level of father and type of disability. It was clear that the degree of the effect of the existence of disability within the family upon the deterioration of relationships between family members is different according to the education level of father. while results have indicated that most families don't suffer from any psychological or social obstacles. It has concluded that some recommendations should be presented which can contribute to overcoming these obstacles and activating the family role for the sake of providing the integrated care for this category of people.
