Praise be to Allah Lord of the worlds, peace and blessings be upon the most honored of the Prophets and Messengers, his family and his companions, thereafter,
This dissertation is submitted to obtain a Master’s degree in the Holy Quran and Sunna from King Abd Al-Aziz University, which is part of the preponderances of Ibn Ateyah and his Interpretation project.
It consists of an introduction, two chapters, conclusion, and indexes.
As for the introduction: it included the importance of dissertation subject, reasons of selection, and previous studies and researches, aims of the research, its plan, and the methodology used in its preparation.
As for chapter one: I dealt with the biography of Ibn Ateyah, and his book (Al Muhrrar Al Wajeez), his methodology in preponderance, and has two sections:
First section: Brief biography of Ibn Ateyah.
Second section: The definition of the book (Al Muhrrar Al Wajeez), and the methodology of Ibn Ateyah in his preponderance.
As for chapter two : I exposed the preponderance issues of Ibn Ateyah from first of surat Al Mu'minoon to end of surat Al Naml, its discussion, and comparison with statements of other interpreters. I supported that with evidence which proved each statement when possible. Then I reached to the result of preponderance according to the supported evidences, and the approved preponderance and Interpretation rules by religious scholars.
Then the conclusion, which consists of the important results that I reached for:
- The superiority of Ibn Ateyah (may Allah’s mercy be upon him) in various sciences and arts. He was a great Imam in Explication, Hadith, Fiqih, and Arabic Language, etc.
- The strength of Ibn Ateyah's Preponderance and the fine quality of his methodology of preponderance and its rules. He was not an imitator, but a diligent person who relied on evidence and observations in most of his views.
- Recommendations: Perhaps the most prominent one is the need for the attention of the Interpretation of Ibn Ateyah, and his curtailment and the need to revise it contrary to the doctrine of the predecessors.
