Abstract : The subject of this study is the cult of meditation on the major contemporary religions، a comparative doctrinal study، to illustrate the difference between the Worship of meditation on the Judaism، Christianity، and Hinduism، Buddhism and Taoism، and the cult of thought in Islam. Hence، legitimacy to deal with contemporary contemplative practices، and their reality becomes clear. The researcher relied on the extrapolation of meditation on religions referring back to the original books، and then describing and clarifying it. The research has an introduction including the importance of the subject، the reasons for its selection، its objectives، previous studies، and its methodology. The research plan is as follows: A preface، are defined، and three chapters. The first chapter is on Meditation in man-made religions، with three topics: the first is the definition، the second is its aims; the third is its domains and manifestations, The second chapter is on distorted religions; it includes two topics: the first is Meditation in Judaism and the second is Meditation in Christianity. Definitions as well as aims and domains of meditation are given in both topics. The third chapter is on the Worship of thinking in Islam; it includes three topics: the first topic is the definition of thought and its evidence، the second is its aims، and the third is its domains، followed by the conclusion and the list of references. The most prominent findings of the research are: the place of reflection in Islam. Reflection has no definite body or way; remembrance is one of its fruits، its purpose is realization of the mind، the way it can perceive. This differentiates it from inner meditation in other religions as it means to completely restrain the mind and abolish it. Meditation in religions other than Islam means: salvation، unity، and enlightenment، and it has its own forms and fields.
